# FAQ

## What proxy replica scaling settings should we use?

By default, the proxy runs with a minimum of 2 replicas and a maximum of 10, which is sufficient for most customers. If you have very high query traffic, consider raising the minimum, the maximum, or both.

## How does Snowflake disaster recovery failover work with the proxy?

There are two failover scenarios:

* **Snowflake is down in one region, but the proxy is still available**
  * Fail over to the other region using your existing Snowflake procedures.
  * No proxy changes are needed.
* **Both Snowflake and the proxy are down** (for example, an entire Azure region outage)
  * Fail over to the other region using your existing Snowflake procedures.
  * Update DNS to point to the proxy instance in the other region.

## What are routing pools?

Routing pools are a way to isolate workloads. Queries may only be routed to warehouses within the same routing pool as the original warehouse in the query request. All warehouses are in the `General` routing pool by default. You may create additional pools and assign warehouses to them on the `Settings` page of our Dashboard.

## How does warehouse access work?

See [Warehouse Access](/snowflake-optimizer/proxy-onboarding/proxy-onboarding-warehouse-access.md).
